Singer/songwriter Céline Cormier will awaken, soothe and surprise you with her soulful yet gritty melodies and simple emotive acoustic guitar style.
With an impressive vocal range from the just beneath the rare Contralto to the top notes of Sopranino, Céline takes on an emotional journey when rolling deep into warm velvety tones, delivering solid tempos, exposing vulnerable sensuality, or journeying to bird song highs and outright cries of the wild.
A natural born singer, Céline’s expressive emotive stylings were first developed as a child singing in the Church choir where at the age of 7 she sang her first solo at Christmas Midnight Mass and her soulful passion for song was ignited.
Growing up in a big family with musical roots, Sunday afternoons would consist of Dad playing the guitar and singing the country and western songs that dominated the sound of his youth. It was special feeling to listening to him sing, belting in his own unique Acadian flavor, and thumb-picking twang guitar stylings, the likes of Hank Williams, Hank Snow, Johnny Cash and to Voyageur-French Canadian Folk laments and songs.
As a young adult busting out her own sense of being, Celine explored various forms of performance singing in cover bands, at weddings, for local events, and even recording a few radio jingles. Influences wove through pop, rock and folk, from David Bowie to Prince, Bob Marley, Janis Joplin, Neil Young, ‘Harmonium’, and Pearl Jam.
It was learning guitar that triggered the singer/songwriter to come to life and prompted a spontaneous move to pursue her music out west. In Vancouver, Céline collaborated with local musicians, to form a quarto called 'Superchauch' writing and co-writing original soul/jazz/funk songs and playing the local bar scene for almost 8 years.
Feeling more and more the desire to explore new musical genres and expand if not release new songwriting directions and serving her ongoing desire for reinvention, Céline continues to write and compose in various genres including pop, hiphop, funk, soul and rhythm & blues, and is excited about her new beginnings in creating digital music tracks and beats, in an attempt to “get all this music out of my head and into the world!”
